You’ll notice extra Missouri state troopers on the road tomorrow and throughout the entire Christmas holiday weekend, enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists who need help.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Captain John Hotz tells 939 the Eagle that that four motorists were killed and another 318 suffered injuries in about 1,000 crashes across Missouri during the 2022 Christmas holiday counting period.

“We know unfortunately that a lot of people are killed or injured this time of year, and so we want to do everything we can to ensure that people have a safe Christmas season. We also are going to of course rely on them to help us out with that,” Hotz says.

Captain Hotz urges you to wear your seat belt, obey all traffic laws and to be well-rested. He also urges you to make sure your vehicle is in good condition. This year’s Missouri Christmas holiday counting period begins tomorrow evening at 6 and ends at 11:59 pm on Christmas night (Monday).

“We’ll have troopers out there of course who are not only enforcing traffic laws but also looking for those that may be running into problems or experiencing other issues out there on the roadway. We again want this to be a safe time,” says Hotz.

Missouri state troopers are urging you to slow down, buckle up and make sure your vehicle is in good condition before you leave for your Christmas holiday destination. Captain Hotz says motorists who face a traffic emergency can contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on their cell phone.
