U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) says congressional redistricting has reduced the number of “swing districts” nationwide from 74 to 51. The retiring congressman joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Mid-Missouri”, telling listeners that while there’s a good chance the U-S House will remain in GOP control after November, it will be tight. He notes the GOP currently has just a one-vote margin. Congressman Luetkemeyer tells listeners that while voters in his red GOP district think former President Donald Trump “walks on water,” voters in some swing districts view the former president as toxic. Congressman Luetkemeyer’s district includes much of Columbia as well as Jefferson City, Boonville and Fulton. He says the swing districts are critical to retaining GOP control in 2024. Congressman Luetkemeyer also discussed the recent verdict against former President Trump in New York, describing it as “a complete travesty that makes a mockery of our judicial system.” Congressman Luetkemeyer also says “it’s clear that this trial was designed to achieve a predetermined outcome,” suggesting it could be overturned on appeal:
