Local COVID-19 Update (Jan. 8)

Boone County reports another COVID-19 patient has died. Health officials said Friday the patient was older than 80. Boone is now up to 61 total deaths from the illness.

There were 123 new coronavirus cases in Boone on Friday. Active cases rose to 874. Hospitalizations stayed the same, at 108, but are still putting a strain on resources.

Callaway County reported its 33rd COVID-19 death Friday. Active coronavirus cases rose slightly, to 451.

Cole County added 49 new cases on Friday. Cole no longer makes its active case count public.
