Boone County issues health advisory as COVID-19 cases rise

Boone County’s health department has issued a health advisory amid rising coronavirus cases.

Health officials said Wednesday they strongly recommend that folks wear a mask indoors whether they are vaccinated or not. They also urge people to get the shot if they haven’t already.

Boone County reported 56 new cases Wednesday. Active cases went up, to 333. Hospitalizations stayed the same, at 70. Hospitals in Boone are once again operating at “yellow” status, meaning resources are strained and some non-emergency surgeries are being delayed.

Cole County reported 40 new cases Wednesday.
