Local COVID-19 Update

Boone County reported two more COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday.

Health officials said one individual was in the 75-79 age range, and the other was older than 80. That makes 26 total deaths from the virus. Boone reported the 24th death on Tuesday, a patient older than 80.

Boone County reported a triple-digit increase in coronavirus cases for the tenth straight day. There were 135 confirmed cases Wednesday. Active cases rose, to 985.

Hospitalizations in Boone went up, from 148 to 158. Hospitals are still operating at “yellow” status, meaning they could be deferring non-emergency patients or delaying some elective surgeries.

Callaway County reported its 12th death from COVID-19 Monday. Active coronavirus cases went way up, to 645. Cole County recently changed the way it reports daily coronavirus cases, and no longer reports active cases.

The state of Missouri launched a new website with information on COVID-19 vaccines. Health officials recommend you limit travel, and limit the size of your gatherings, over the holidays.
