Local Gulf War vet on Iran tensions’ impact on gas prices

Will this showdown with Iran lead to you paying more for gas?

Retired local Air Force Colonel Rik Combs fought in both Gulf Wars. He says the Iranians have threatened to shut down the Persian Gulf before.

“The strait there is not very wide,” Combs says. “That could be very problematic going to war with Iran.”

About 25% of the world’s oil and one-third of all natural gas come through the Strait of Hormuz.

Combs says he does not expect all-out war with Iran. He spoke with our sister station KWOS before Iran fired missiles at Iraqi military bases housing American troops.
