Local protests peaceful; Parson calls National Guard over violence outside Mid-Mo

Mid-Missouri protesters joined thousands across the country speaking out against the death of George Floyd.

Floyd is the black man killed by a white Minneapolis police officer who pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck last week.

The local demonstrations like the one in downtown Columbia on Sunday night were apparently peaceful. An organizer of a local protest, Brittany Fatoma, is a guest at 4:43 p.m. Monday on the debut of The Mike Ferguson Show on 93.9 The Eagle and 939theeagle.com.

Gov. Parson activated the National Guard on Saturday, to respond to protests that at times turned violent in St. Louis and Kansas City.
