The longtime Boone County Fire Protection District’s chief will retire on February 1.
The district has announced fire chief Scott Olsen’s retirement, saying he’s dedicated four decades to serving the citizens of Boone County. District officials praise Chief Olsen, saying he’s provided steadfast leadership, a commitment to community safety and an unwavering focus on advancing the district’s mission.
The board has appointed Deputy Chief Doug Westhoff as interim fire chief, effective immediately. Chief Olsen will continue to serve in an advisory capacity.
