Man accused of attempted Columbia rape

A St. Louis man is now facing a Columbia attempted rape charge.

Police say Andrew Baynes made sexual advances to a victim giving him a ride to downtown while he was drunk on August 21. The victim refused, and he allegedly got violent while continuing to make sexual advances. Bystanders got him away from the victim until the cops showed up.

Baynes, 21, was booked in to jail Tuesday on a charge of first degree attempted rape.
