Man arrested after assault with car near Columbia Mall

A Columbia man is in jail after allegedly assaulted a woman with his car.

Police say they arrested Joseph Jones on suspicion of domestic assault and more. Jones is accused of trying to run over a female victim with his car in the Columbia Mall parking lot at around 7 a.m. Sunday. Investigators say Jones also grabbed the victim by the hair and dragged her into the car.

Officers arrested Jones at a home later that afternoon.
