Man charged with murder in fatal West Blvd. crash

Boone County prosecutors have charged Lukas Evans, 20, with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident after he crashed head-on into Jordan Hoyt, 37, last Saturday, killing her.

Investigators said Evans was fleeing from another crash on Stadium Boulevard and West Boulevard when he tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone on West Blvd. near Prospect Street. That’s when he hit Hoyt.

Evans faces the second-degree murder charge because he was in the process of committing the crime of leaving the scene of an accident when he killed Evans.

His bond has been set at $1 million.

It’s not clear if Evans is in custody at this point.
