Man faces multiple charges after incident downtown

A Columbia man was charged with multiple crimes after an incident about 9:30 Sunday evening on 9th Street downtown in front of Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream. 44-year-old Shawn A. Fenson, who’s address is the Turning Point Day Center at Wilkes Blvd. United Methodist Church, is accused of kicking a Bird Scooter into a victim’s Jeep, shouting racial slurs, threatening to kill one of the victims, and lowering his pants to expose his genitals. He was arrested in the middle of 9th Street by Columbia police in front of a large crowd of witnesses. He was charged with second-degree property damage motivated by discrimination, second-degree harassment and first-degree sexual misconduct. He’s being held in the Boone County jail.
