Man pleads guilty, sentenced in Jefferson City murder

(AP) — A 23-year-old Jefferson City man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a February 2019 murder.

Austin Corrigan pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the killing of 63-year-old Clifton Withers and the wounding of Carol Wilson, Withers’ girlfriend.

Cole County authorities say Corrigan left the scene but called police to report that two people had been shot. When police tried to stop his vehicle, Corrigan fled and was arrested after his vehicle crashed and he fled on foot.
