Authorities are looking for a man who crashed a car into a sheriff’s deputy and his cruiser west of Columbia.
The sheriff’s department says a deputy found a possibly stolen Dodge Challenger with a Texas license plate at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday at the Midway truck stop on Highway 40 and I-70. When he got there, the driver accelerated backwards, hitting the deputy and his vehicle.
The deputy was not hurt. He shot his gun at the suspect as he drove away.
We don’t know the suspect’s name yet.
