A man drowns in Cooper County after helping a child.
The Highway Patrol says Joseph Johnson jumped in the Lamine River at the Harriman Hill Access near Blackwater at about 7:30 p.m. Monday when he saw a child caught in the current. The Marshall man got could not get himself out of that current.
Johnson was 25 years old.
