May 23 open house set for new $232-million Children’s Hospital in Columbia

Next week is your opportunity to tour MU Health Care’s new $232-million dollar Children’s Hospital at Columbia’s Hitt and Lake streets.

The new state-of-the-art facility is connected to University Hospital, which provides a centralized location for specialists to work together to deliver coordinated care. MU Health Care plans a community open house and ribbon-cutting at the new Children’s Hospital and Birthing Center next Thursday May 23, one week from today (Thursday). The open house and tours will be from 3-7 pm, and the ribbon-cutting will take place at 3:30 pm.

The facility will also include a Ronald McDonald family room, which will include a full kitchen and laundry facilities.

University of Missouri’s Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Nim Chinniah discussed the new Children’s Hospital and numerous other issues Saturday with host Fred Parry on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable.
