McCloskey on guilty plea in gun-waving case

Should the McCloskeys have tried to fight felony gun charges instead of working out a plea deal?

Mark and Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to lesser charges for pointing guns at racial injustice protesters outside their St. Louis home last summer.

“It’s a Class C misdemeanor, it’s like a parking ticket,” said McCloskey on our sister station KWOS. “The governor may or may not pardon me, that’s up to him. But I think the good takeaway is that the current Castle Doctrine is an affirmative defense.”

The couple agreed to give up the guns they used and pay fines as part of the plea deal. Shortly afterward, McCloskey bought a new AR rifle to replace the one that was confiscated.

McCloskey last month announced his candidacy for the 2022 U.S. Senate race.
