Measles outbreak spreads; one case confirmed in Missouri

You probably lined up for a measles vaccination when you were little. But the U.S. is now seeing a widespread breakout.

“We’re not doing too bad compared to some other states, but all it takes is one little pocket of lesser vaccinated areas for it to spread,” Cole County Health Department’s Jamie Young says.

There are already more than 600 confirmed measles cases nationally, with one in Missouri in Jefferson County south of St. Louis.

Young says the MMR vaccine is 97 percent effective in children who are given two doses.
