Medicaid expansion, Cole Commission among primary races

Tuesday is primary election day in Missouri.

Voters are deciding whether to expand Medicaid in the state. Learn more about Amendment 2 here.

Voters are also choosing the person they want to represent their party in the November general election. Cole County incumbents Jeff Hoelscher (Rick Mihalevich) and Kris Scheperle (Harry Otto and Gary Bemboom) are both facing Republican challengers. The winners of those GOP races will get the seat, since no other party submitted candidates.

The Cole County assessor’s race will also be decided in the Republican primary. Incumbent Chris Estes is facing challenges from Jonathan Meyers, Rick Prather, and Alex Meller.

Callaway County’s next Western District commissioner will also come out of the Republican primary. Incumbent Roger Fischer is opposed by Will Shackelford.

Four Republicans are running for the Boone County Commission’s northern district seat, and the right to challenge incumbent Democrat Janet Thompson in November. They are Brenndan Riddles, Jim Musgraves, Sam Boyce, and Tristan Asbury.
