Mid-County firefighters investigating house fire

Mid-County fire investigators are working to find out what caused a home to catch fire on State Road E in Montreal Friday morning around midnight.

According to a Facebook post by the Mid-County Fire Protection District, firefighters were dispatched to the home and found it full engulfed. The roof had already collapsed.

They brought the fire under control within 40 minutes.

The home is a total loss but it was unoccupied at the time of the fire so no one was hurt.

The cause is being investigated by the MCFPD Fire Marshal’s Office and the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.

The Tri-county Fire Protection District assisted, as well as the Camden County Sheriff’s Office and Laclede Electric. An engine from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District took over at the Mid-County station just in case there were any additional calls.

The MCFPD is also investigating two suspected arsons that happened Tuesday. One happened on State Road E, where firefighters found bales of hay on fire inside a barn. They also were made aware of other bales of hay intentionally set the night before on Freedom Ridge. They’re both under investigation.
