Columbia has received almost two inches of rain since Saturday, forcing the cancelation of Sunday’s final day of the Heritage festival and craft show at Nifong park.
National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Fred Glass tells 939 the Eagle that Columbia Regional Airport (COU) has received 1.95 inches of rain, as of 1 pm Sunday. While mid-Missouri is expected to see more rain tonight and into Monday, Mr. Glass does not expect any severe weather.
Columbia Parks and Recreation director Gabe Huffington notes the heavy rain played a role in their decision to cancel Sunday. The popular Heritage festival and craft show is in its 46th year. Mr. Huffington says while these are always difficult decisions to make, safety is their top priority.
