State cancels mass vaccination events due to winter weather

The state’s scheduled National Guard mass vaccination events are canceled this week due to safety concerns from the winter weather, Gov. Mike Parson announced Monday.

There were originally two mass vaccination events scheduled in mid-Missouri this week, in Moberly and Mexico, for people needing the second dose of the Moderna vaccine. Those events might be rescheduled.

Parson said the recent winter weather might delay some vaccine shipments. He also said the delay will not affect the efficacy of the second booster dose.

The state says, as of Feb. 13, 10.3% of Missourians have now gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Boone County had only seven new coronavirus cases on Monday, and a combined 25 new cases over the last three days. Active cases went down, to 174. Hospitalizations stayed the same, at 42, and are not straining resources.
