Mid-Missouri woman rescued after car ends up in three feet of water

The sheriff in mid-Missouri’s Moniteau County is thanking firefighters who rescued a woman and a dog who were trapped inside their SUV in three feet of fast-moving water.

Thursday’s incident happened on Mount Hope road, a rural area near Russellville.

Sheriff Tony Wheatley thanks Russellville and Jefferson City firefighters for their quick efforts. JCFD crews used a water rescue boat to bring the motorist and dog to safety.

Sheriff Wheatley says fire and water rescue personnel did an outstanding job of making sure everyone was safely recovered.
