Are you tired of trying to dodge all the semis running through Mid-Missouri?
Rick Mihalevich chairs the Heartland Port Authority.
“One barge is 70 semi, tractor-trailer loads of goods, so it doesn’t take you long to travel I-70 and I-44 to understand that we’ve got a lot of trucks on the road.”
Supporters want to build the barge port downstream from Jefferson City. There are already 14 ports on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in the state. A bill to deed about 100 acres of land near the Algoa Prison over to the port authority failed in the last session.
