Millard Family Chapels handling funeral services for Columbia Rock Bridge employee killed in Tennessee

Funeral services are set for Saturday for a Columbia Rock Bridge high school employee who was killed in late May at a Tennessee rest stop.

Millard Family Chapels has posted obituary information on its website about 55-year-old Michael Woods Jr. Saturday’s funeral will be at 1:30 at the Crossing church in Columbia, under the direction of Parker-Millard.

The victim’s son, 30-year-old Micah McElmurry remains jailed without bond near Chattanooga. McElmurry is charged with shooting his father to death at a rest stop. 

Mr. Woods was a 1984 Rock Bridge graduate and earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College. His obituary says Woods “will be remembered for his generosity, kind heart and loving spirit.”
