The agency that is responsible for the administration of child welfare services in Missouri has a new director.
Judge Darrell Missey of Jefferson City is the new director for the Children’s Division. He is the seventh CD director in the past eight years, which is something Governor Mike Parson has mentioned publicly. The governor has said that he wants to bring stability to the Children’s Division.
Judge Missey’s appointment is praised by State Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman (R-Arnold), who chairs the Missouri House Children and Families Committee. She represents Jefferson County in the House.
“Judge Missey has worked effectively and tirelessly from the bench to protect children,” Coleman says, in a written statement. “Given the many challenges facing the division I am grateful to the governor for thinking outside the box.”
Representative Coleman says Judge Missey offers strong leadership skills and understands the system.
