Missouri lawmakers have returned to the Capitol for their annual legislative session. The 2022 session began at noon Wednesday and lasts through mid-May.
More than 550 guests are expected to attend Thursday morning’s Missouri Governor’s prayer breakfast at Jefferson City’s Capitol Plaza Hotel. The interfaith event is held annually to seek God’s guidance for state government leaders at the session’s start. “Wake Up Columbia” is live on-location this morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the event.
One of the main speakers is Pastor John Modest Miles, the pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church in Kansas City. Pastor Miles is a longtime friend of former President Bill Clinton. In addition to his pastor duties, Miles says his greatest joy is seeing that homeless people near his church as 27th and Prospect are fed, clothed and sheltered year-round.
