Missouri accepting medical marijuana facility applications

The application process is now open for facilities wanting a medical marijuana license.

Jack Cardetti with the new state medical cannabis trade association MO-CANN says Missouri is taking a good approach.

“Ultimately, the people that are going to be scoring these applications are going to be a professional third party, and it will be a blind scoring system,” Cardetti tells Missourinet. “I think that gives a lot of us a lot of confidence this will be done by merit.”

Facilities have until Aug. 17 to apply. The state health department plans to license hundreds of them (60 cultivation facilities, 192 dispensaries, 86 infused product makers and 10 test labs). More than 600 have already applied.

The first medical marijuana sales in Missouri will probably happen early 2020.
