Missouri DHSS: Delayed reporting on COVID-19 deaths, smaller positive case increase

More reporting delays caused a higher reported number of COVID-19 deaths in Missouri Tuesday.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said some of the 19 deaths reported Tuesday took place between May 1-3. There have been 377 total deaths from COVID-19 in Missouri.

Another 162 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the state, for a total of 8,916.

Boone County confirmed another positive case Tuesday, making it 97 positives there. Most patients are out of isolation.

Cole, Callaway, and Moniteau counties all did not report a new positive case on Tuesday. Most patients are recovering in those counties as well.

More than half the patients in Saline County have recovered. There were three new positives Tuesday, for a total of 206. 112 patients have recovered.

  1. The numbers are near meaningless unless you report how many are asymptomatic. It sounds like all the positives are home in bed or dying. Let’s see if you can do some real reporting an dig into what the real numbers/percentages are.

  2. What does it matter if they are Asymptomatic or not? The Asymptomatic are not for the most part ever being tested. In most cases in Missouri you are not tested unless you are Symptomatic or come into contact & likely to have caught the virus from someone you live with. We have had roughly 400 death in a state of 6,000,000..(Over 300 of them over 65) Why are we even reporting any of this, the flu killed more this year in Missouri?
