It took multiple trucks and a crane, but state employees have installed a large Christmas tree from Columbia on the Governor’s Mansion lawn in Jefferson City.

The 30-foot Norway spruce will be lit Friday evening at 6, just before the popular candlelight tours begin at the Mansion.

Governor Parson says the tree has been donated by Columbia residents Steve and Carla Leible: Carla is the general manager of Zimmer Radio here in mid-Missouri.

Part of Jefferson City’s Madison street had to be closed on Monday morning, to give state employees the space and safety to get the tree over the Mansion fence and to the lawn.

The tree will be lit Friday evening at 6, as part of the annual “Living Windows” event in downtown Jefferson City. You’re invited to attend.
