Federal highway officials are in Columbia on this Wednesday morning to deliver a report to a few hundred transportation professionals, law enforcement officers and safety advocates.

The Federal Highway Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will be delivering updates, and there will also be a presentation about autonomous vehicles. Those are self-driving vehicles.
The keynote speakers will be Jacy Good and Steve Johnson, who will deliver a presentation called “Hang Up and Drive.” Their speech will involve distracted driving, including texting while driving.
It’s a theme Governor Parson emphasized during his Monday opening address. State Sen. Greg Razer (D-Kansas City) plans to pre-file legislation in December, that would ban texting while driving.
