(AP) Republicans in the Missouri House are moving to ban state government spending on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Lawmakers yesterday voted to prohibit spending on staff, vendors, consultants and programs that promote diversity, equity and inclusion at public colleges and state agencies.
Republican state rep Doug Richey says diversity, equity and inclusion are neo-Marxist ideas. Democrats say the bans are racist.
Lawmakers also have voted to cut public library funding. The cut is in response to a lawsuit by library groups to overturn a new law on what books are available in schools.
