Missouri man arrested after judge receives racist threats

(AP) A Missouri man is charged with making abusive and racist threats against a judge, who has filed for an order of protection against the accused.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s office says a 42-year-old man from Independence was arrested Tuesday and charged with tampering with a judicial officer and harassment motivated by discrimination.

Charging documents say the defendant, who is white, made 15 to 17 calls on Monday and Tuesday threatening a Black judge, who is not named in the affidavit. The caller left his name and said he had been staking out the courthouse and following people home. He is being held without bond. Court records do not name an attorney for him.
