Missouri man who threatened two Democratic congressmen sentenced to prison; suspect had previously threatened President Obama

A southwest Missouri man is heading to federal prison, after being convicted of threatening two Democratic members of Congress.

63-year-old Kenneth Hubert of Marionville has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison, after pleading guilty to two counts of threatening to injure federal officials.

One of the congressman Hubert threatened was U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Kansas City), who represents part of mid-Missouri in Saline County. Court documents show that Hubert left a voicemail at Cleaver’s Independence office, using a racial slur and saying “how about a noose around his neck?”

Court documents also show that, in the past, Hubert has threatened then-President Barack Obama and the Missouri Democratic Party. Federal prosecutors say Hubert continued to make threats, despite law enforcement directing him several times to stop.
