Missouri reports 1,300 new coronavirus cases, breaking record for second straight day

Missouri blows past its record in daily coronavirus cases two days in a row.

Another 1,301 positives were confirmed Wednesday, breaking Tuesday’s record by nearly 200. Officials pointed to a data entry backlog this month as one of the reasons for the high number. Another 16 Missourians have died from COVID-19, for a total of 1,159.

Boone County confirmed 28 new cases Wednesday, which is slightly higher than the rolling five-day average.

Cooper County reported a record 16 new cases on Wednesday. Officials there say that spike is connected to congregate living facilities.

Cole County added six cases Wednesday. Callaway, Audrain, Saline and Moniteau counties all reported one new case.
