Missouri River approaching fourth-highest crest in Jefferson City

MoDot has crews starting to put sandbags on the ramp connecting southbound Highway 63 to Highway 54 near the Missouri River bridge. The department says it is just a precaution for now to keep water from crossing the roadway.

The Missouri River early Wednesday morning in Jefferson City went above 33.2 feet. That looks like it will be the fourth-highest crest in recorded history there. The water is on track to fall starting Wednesday.

Several roads at the capital are closed due to flooding. Stay updated on that here. Hundreds of roads are closed statewide according to MoDot.

The MKT Trail is closed near Jay Dix Station on S. Scott Boulevard in Columbia due to high water.

The Osage River is now closed to recreational boating from the Missouri River to Bagnell Dam.
