Bagnell Dam spill gates won’t open until later this week

Water levels have finally started to drop on the Missouri River.

The Big Muddy in Jefferson City was at 32.17 feet early Monday morning, and was forecast finally fall below major flood stage on Tuesday.

A few roads are starting to reopen, including the Highway 240 spur at Rocheport.

Ameren and the Army Corps of Engineers on Monday decided to wait until later this week to open the spill gates at Bagnell Dam to prevent more Missouri River flooding.
