Missouri River levels rise

Forecasters as of early Thursday expected the Missouri River to crest in Jefferson City and Glasgow early Friday morning at moderate flood stage.

It’s already at moderate flood stage. In Jefferson City, the river was at 26.88 feet early Thursday, and expected to top out at 27.9 feet. In Glasgow, it was at 29.8 feet early Thursday, with a forecast crest of 30.8 feet.

Several local roads were closed Thursday because of high water. See updates from MoDot and Boone County.

More rain is in the forecast through Friday. We got 2.4 inches of rain at Columbia Regional Airport on Tuesday alone.
