Missouri’s governor has presented the Medal of Valor to a state trooper who helped rescue others, after a deadly July 2020 boating crash at Lake of the Ozarks.

Governor Parson says Patrol Corporal Jason Ashby was off duty in a boat, when it was struck by an intoxicated boater.
Ashby was knocked unconscious and when he regained consciousness, he requested a helicopter and ambulances and performed CPR on a 13-year-old passenger. Governor Parson says Corporal Ashby worked in darkness, carrying the girl off the boat and up steep stairs, saving her life.
The governor presented the medal to Corporal Ashby, during a Wednesday ceremony in Jefferson City.
