48 crew members from Missouri Task Force One have returned to Columbia, after being deployed to tornado-damaged Mayfield, Kentucky.

Boone County Fire Protection District assistant chief Gale Blomenkamp says task force one completed assessments of 2,200 structures in about 18 hours.

Fire chief Scott Olsen praises task force one, saying they performed great work and represented the state well.

The 48 crew members returned Thursday afternoon. They conducted damage assessments on every structure in Mayfield, which received national attention when the massive tornado struck a candle factory, killing eight workers.
