Attorney General Catherine Hanaway says parents deserve the truth about how TikTok interacts with their children and how the platform identifies underage users.

Attorney General Hanaway is demanding that the company disclose how its algorithm selects and promotes content for children. She also says TiKTok must answer for its handling of dangerous online challenges and the presence of fake or inauthentic accounts.

Attorney General Hanaway has given TikTok a November 13 deadline to comply with her office’s Civil Investigative Demand (CID).
