Missouri’s attorney general investigating Students for Justice in Palestine; SJP responds

Missouri’s attorney general has announced that her office is launching an investigation into Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), specifically their fundraising and charitable solicitation activities in the Show-Me State.

Attorney General Catherine Hanaway says public reports from independent organizations have raised concerns about the group’s fundraising and alleged links between its efforts and organizations whose resources may ultimately reach what she calls radical Islamic terrorist organizations.

She promises that her office will use every tool the law allows to trace where the money goes.

SJP has issued a statement on Instagram, criticizing the attorney general. SJP’s statement says its advocacy is law-abiding and peaceful. It also says that “for the last three years, we have focused on bringing awareness to the ongoing genocide in Gaza by Israel, bought and paid for by our politicians.”

SJP has chapters across the nation, including at Mizzou in Columbia.
