Missouri’s governor has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency because of the winter storm, and he’s also activated the Missouri National Guard.

Governor Parson says signing the order enables emergency management professionals to have every tool and resource available to aid Missourians and to protect lives. The governor also says Missouri National Guard members have been positioned around the state to assist state troopers with stranded motorists.

Governor Parson notes more than half of Missouri is under a winter storm warning. He says we must be prepared for the worst, and he’s encouraging you to remain vigilant.

Governor Parson is also urging Missourians to avoid travel if at all possible, for the next few days. He’s also urging you to regularly check on the elderly and others who may need additional help.
