Most of Jefferson City’s 14,000 state employees will enjoy a four-day Christmas weekend, under Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe’s executive order.

The governor has signed an order closing most state offices on Friday December 26. He says he hopes that state employees can spend this extra time with loved ones, like he and First Lady Claudia Kehoe will do. Governor Kehoe praises Missouri’s state employees, writing that “your compassion, humility and service are reflected daily in the work you do for Missourians, and we hope you know how vital that work truly is.”

Christmas Day is one of Missouri’s 13 official state holidays. Emergency management like the Missouri State Highway Patrol will still be working on Christmas Day and that Friday.
