Columbia’s police chief will travel to Jefferson City on Monday afternoon to discuss public safety with Missouri Governor Mike Parson.

Governor Parson and Chief Jones will also discuss solutions for the law enforcement workforce.

Columbia voters approved a use tax earlier this month, which is expected to generate $5.6 million annually in additional revenue. City finance director Matthew Lue has said that Columbia could fund and maintain seven new firefighters and eight new police officers with the use tax revenue.
