Boone County’s presiding commissioner says Mizzou is seeing record retention rates for students.

Kip Kendrick spoke to elected officials and business leaders during Wednesday’s Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) board meeting at Boone Electric. Mizzou officials announced during the REDI board meeting that they expect to see about 6,000 first-time freshmen this fall. Columbia-area business leaders praise the news.
Mizzou saw an 18 percent increase in their freshmen class last fall, over 2023 numbers. UM System President Dr. Mun Choi has told 939 the Eagle that the retention rate is 92 percent. President Choi has credited affordability, an excellent quality of education and Mizzou football’s success for the freshmen enrollment numbers and for the retention rates.
