Mizzou’s football coach is excited about his team opening the 2024 season at home on a Thursday night, for the third straight year.
The University of Missouri has announced that it will open the season on Thursday August 29 at 7 pm at Faurot against Murray State. Tiger football coach Eli Drinkwitz says hosting the season opener on the Thursday night of Labor Day weekend has been huge from an attendance standpoint over the last two seasons and has helped Mizzou create a big-time atmosphere for the fans and student section. Coach Drinkwitz also praises Murray State and the Southeastern Conference, saying this doesn’t happen without them.
Traffic was heavy in Columbia in August for the 2023 opener against South Dakota. The University of Missouri requested that all employees who work on-campus in non-public roles to work remotely that afternoon to accommodate the increased traffic with Mizzou’s football season opener.
