Moberly awarded $4.8 million federal infrastructure grant

The town of Moberly is getting $4.8 million from the feds.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross says it is for the water and wastewater infrastructure improvements needed to grow business. Wednesday’s press release pointed to damage from flooding in the spring of 2019.

“This project will enable Moberly to create a flood-resistant downtown business district that will support the needs of both established and new businesses and increase water capacity at the Moberly Area Industrial Park to serve a major meat-packing facility and other businesses,” Ross said in the press release.

There will be $1.6 million in local funds to match the federal grant.
