Boone County deputies arrested Joshua Beck, 26, near Old Highway 63 and Stadium Blvd. Thursday night for stealing a car and then driving off when deputies tried to pull him over.
According to Detective Tom O’Sullivan, Columbia police got a call about 7:00 p.m. in reference to a stolen car. Imo’s Pizza reported a delivery driver’s car had been stolen out of the parking lot.
The 2018 Chevy Spark had a tracking device, and CPD tracked it to a trailer park on Prathersville Road.
Deputies in the area found the car and tried to stop it, but the driver took off.
They ended up using spike strips around Stadium Blvd. to stop the car.
Deputies took Beck into custody around 7:30 p.m.
He faces charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and careless and imprudent driving.
