MoDOT thanks Missourians for their patience during Sorrels overpass demolition

The heavily-damaged Sorrels overpass over I-70 just west of Columbia has been demolished, and traffic is flowing freely on this Monday morning.

The state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says the demolition process went smoothly, adding that they appreciate your patience. MoDOT spokesman Adam Pulley tells 939 the Eagle that traffic backups were significant this weekend, but were allowed to clear about every 15 minutes. He says the agency appreciates everyone who used alternate routes, and they also appreciate your patience while work took place.

The overpass that was demolished was struck by a passing truck in October: it was built in 1958.
